Who’s all in Funny Bones?
Under construction…
Billy Bone
Billy Bone is something on an enigma. He has no place to call home, as he was born on a cruise ship in the middle of the Indian Ocean. His parents abandoned him and left him poolside. A young gentleman found Billy, as he was reading Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.
Hence, his name.
Raised in orphanages across the country, Billy found trouble, and he found it often, as the young gentleman has lived his life by one rule, and one rule only:
“To break all the rules.”
A rule that has led him to find homage on the road and with strangers, as meeting new people is one of Billy’s favorite things in life. He once said:
“That being on the road is like living your life with the reset button, no one’s ever given me a chance, except those who don’t know me…that’s why I love the road, I get to be accepted for all that I am”.
In 2009, Billy met Noisy Bone in Lexington, Kentucky. The two found a mutual love for music, and began jamming, even though Billy had never been trained in the art of guitar playing; he was instantly addicted to the drug of musical vibration.
In 2010, Billy went off to South Africa, after Noisy and his first show.
In Cape Town is where Billy found the love of his life… his now famous South African guitar, Xhosi. Billy spent eight months abroad with Xhosi, and he took her everywhere from inside the African Bush in Botswana, where he learned the beat of African rhythm, to the top of Big Ben, where he learned to rock-n-roll.
Upon returning to Kentucky, Billy once again met up with pal Noisy, and the two formed a band. Since the two, coincidentally, shared the same last name, and were typically jolly in laughter as they philosophized about the world… Funny Bones was the logical band name.
Billy, has seen his role fluctuate in Funny Bones, and since Noisy left to spread the army in Ann Arbor, Michigan the bad bone has taken reigns of Funny Bones on the home-front. He plays guitar and sings his songs primarily, as well as make electronic compositions full of soul, passion and emotion. In addition to bass, dance-stuff and sensational sounds that the kids are into these days.
His songs are both dark and bright, happy and sad, as Billy lived a life on both sides of the gun.
Sometimes Billy plays bass, sometimes Billy spits rhymes, sometimes Billy sings harmonies, sometimes Billy plays drums and sometimes, yes, sometimes my dear reader, Billy just dances. He, along with the help of Noisy, produced, wrote and performed on Funny Bones’ first release Only a Matter of Time, and has a bevy of songs in the band’s deep catalog.
Billy has found many other Bones along the way to 2013, including Sleepy Bone, Dino-Bone and Master Bone, who were all featured on Only a Matter of Time. He also befriended T-Bone, Glory Bone, Funky Bone and invited them to join the Funny Bones nation.
Seemingly, Billy has found the family he never had with all the Funny Bones now on board the FB ship, but he is still in search of his one true love. He hopes that his bird calls will be answered one day soon, and in many ways, that is why the young Bone keeps on singing…to find love, happiness and live happily ever after with the “bonette” of his dreams.
Till then, he will keep doing his best to fight for the common man, avoid succumbing to the evils of greed, and make people dance, laugh and sing along to the songs of Funny Bones.
